The Untapped Potential of Type-In Traffic

May 24, 2024 By admin

Consider this: someone needs new shoes and types “shoes.com” into their browser. This is type-in traffic in action. It wasn’t until I experienced this phenomenon myself that I truly appreciated its power. I purchased MarketAnalysis.com for $60,000, and immediately, I started receiving 180-250 visits a day from people looking for market research. With the average market research report selling for $4,500, the value of this traffic became evident.

Type-in traffic often goes unnoticed, yet it holds incredible value. You might wonder, “What is type-in traffic, and why does it matter?” When people are in ‘consumer mode,’ a portion of them bypass search engines and directly type what they’re looking for into the browser bar, adding “.com” at the end. This behavior, though seemingly minor, scales significantly when considering the global population.

These domains, known as exact match domains (EMDs), align perfectly with the searcher’s intent. Early domain investors capitalized on this traffic, often making significant revenue through AdSense. While finding such domains today can be challenging, they are still out there.

Another example is the acquisition: TechnologyConference.com. I bought this domain for $3,600 and built it out using WordPress and the Genesis theme. Previously undeveloped, it started attracting visitors almost immediately. In the past 30 days, TechnologyConference.com has received thousands of type-in visits. Considering the ever-growing interest in the tech community attending tech events, these visits are from highly paid individuals working in top tech companies eager to network with their peers, learn the latest trends, and share ideas. Event organizers pay thousands to list their events at TechnologyConference.com.

This exemplifies the power of an exact-match .com domain. It provides free traffic and a substantial head start for any project. Once you enhance this with PPC, email campaigns, SEO strategies, and social media, you amplify your reach significantly.

This is why my strategy focuses on securing a powerful domain first. I don’t begin with an idea; I begin with an instantly memorable domain that guarantees traffic. From there, I build and serve the audience meticulously. A domain-first approach gives me the edge to not just survive but excel in any market condition. In the fast-paced world of digital ventures, this resilience is invaluable, providing a solid foundation to thrive and succeed.
