Finder models are a real thing in machine learning: models whose job is retrieval rather than generation, locating the relevant item in a large collection. Retrieval is the unglamorous half of every useful AI system and increasingly the half that determines whether it works.
The name fits a search or retrieval product, a recommendation engine, a vector search company, or a research group. As generation has commoditised, retrieval quality has become the actual differentiator, which makes this a well-timed name.
There’s a plainer reading too. A finder model could be the business model of any matching service: jobs, properties, suppliers, professionals. Anything whose function is helping people locate the right option among many.
Eleven characters, two plain words, no hyphen, .com, and both are standard vocabulary in the technical audience’s world. Naming a mechanism rather than a benefit reads as more credible to engineers.
