Grid animation is a real technique and a real aesthetic. Animated grids, generative pattern work, kinetic typography on a grid system, and the whole strand of motion design that comes out of Swiss typographic principles.
The name is short enough to work as a studio brand and specific enough to signal a discipline. It fits a motion graphics studio, a generative art practice, a design tool, a template library, or a creative coding resource.
There’s a second reading in the technical direction, where grid means computing grid or data grid. Animated data visualisation and dashboard motion design sit there, and that’s a growing area as interfaces get more dynamic.
Eight characters, .com, no hyphen, and both components are legible to a design audience. Anim is standard abbreviation in the field, appearing in file names, software menus, and job titles, so it reads as native rather than as a truncation.
