Three characters on a .com. That’s the top shelf of the short domain market, and the inventory there is fixed at a few tens of thousands of names across all combinations, most of which have been held for twenty years.
The character mix here is letter-digit-letter, a pattern that reads cleanly and types fast on any keyboard. S3 has picked up a strong association with object storage in cloud engineering, which gives this one an immediate angle for anything in infrastructure, hosting, or developer tooling. Add the H and you have something short enough for a CLI tool, an API host, or a company name.
The broader case doesn’t depend on that reading. Three-character .coms get bought by companies that want a name nobody mistypes and nobody forgets, then used for the main site, the URL shortener, the status page, and the support portal, all at once.
Short .com is the one part of this market where supply genuinely cannot expand.
Serious offers only.
