A technology roadmap is a document every serious organisation produces and most of them produce badly. It’s the plan for what gets built, bought, and retired over the next few years, and it’s the artefact that CTOs are judged on.
The phrase names a consulting service, a software category, and a content niche all at once. A strategy consultancy, a planning tool, a research firm publishing sector roadmaps, or a training and templates business would each be well served by the exact term on the .com.
The planning software angle is the most interesting. Product and portfolio roadmapping tools are a real market with several funded players, and none of them owns the plain-language phrase for what they sell. Owning it means arriving in front of a buyer who’s searching in their own words rather than in vendor vocabulary.
Two words, no hyphen, obvious meaning, and it’s the sort of phrase that appears in board papers rather than in slang.
Offers welcome.
