Unweb is a small word with a big idea in it. It suggests everything the web isn’t, or has stopped being: the small internet, the local-first internet, the web without surveillance, the web you leave.
That’s a live cultural current rather than a novelty. Digital minimalism, the small web movement, local-first software, and the general reaction against platform consolidation have all produced real communities and real projects. None of them has a name this clean.
It fits a publication, a foundation, a digital wellbeing organisation, an alternative protocol project, or a community of people building differently. The .org is exactly the right extension for all of those, since none of them wants to look like a company.
Five letters, two syllables, no hyphen, and the un- prefix makes it memorable in a way that a positive-sounding name wouldn’t be. Negation is underused in naming and it’s distinctive when it’s done well.
