Dietology is the study of diet, constructed the way English builds every field name. It’s also the standard term in several other languages, notably Russian and across Eastern Europe, where a dietologist is a recognised professional.
That gives the name two audiences. In English it reads as a coined but immediately comprehensible field name, suitable for a nutrition platform, a practitioner directory, an education provider, or a publication. In other markets it’s simply the correct word for the profession.
The -ology ending does useful work. It signals a body of knowledge rather than a fad, which is worth a great deal in a category where most brands sound like a supplement company. Nutrition advice has a credibility problem and a name that sounds academic helps.
Nine letters, four syllables, entirely phonetic, no hyphen, and understood across several language markets without translation.
