Tography is the tail of photography, videography, cartography, and every other -ography in the language. On its own it reads as the act of recording, stripped of what’s being recorded.
That abstraction is the appeal. A studio, collective, or platform working across photography and video doesn’t have to choose a name that privileges one over the other. The suffix covers all of it and sounds like a word that ought to exist.
It fits a creative agency, a photography community, an education platform, an archive project, or a collective. On the .org the community and educational readings come forward, and photography education is a large and fragmented market with room for something that looks institutional.
Eight letters, three syllables, entirely phonetic, and memorable because it’s a familiar fragment in an unfamiliar position. Names that play with recognisable word parts tend to stick better than fully invented ones.
